The Government’s chief obesity adviser has told parents that the only drink that should be served at meal times is water and that fizzy drinks, juices and squash should be banned from the dinner table!
The recommendation has been made in order to reduce children’s intake of sugar.
“Drink water, that’s the very simple advice to parents,” Prof Susan Jebb, chairman of the Government’s responsibility deal with the food and drinks industry said. “Encourage your children to stick with water. Low-fat milk is fine but water should be the mainstay,”
“The biggest source of sugar across all age groups is sugar-sweetened beverages and those are an obvious target for action,” (source: The Telegraph)
