Water-to-Go is raising awareness, along with many others around the world, about World Environment Day, and we want to encourage you all to help protect our planet
Since 1974, World Environment Day has been celebrated every year on 5 June, engaging governments, businesses and citizens in an effort to address pressing environmental issues.
World Environment Day offers a global platform for inspiring positive change. It pushes for individuals to think about the way they consume; for businesses to develop greener models; for farmers and manufacturers to produce more sustainably; for governments to invest in repairing the environment; for educators to inspire students to take action; and for youth to build a greener future.
The emergence of COVID-19 has also shown just how disastrous the consequences of ecosystem loss can be. By shrinking the area of natural habitat for animals, we have created ideal conditions for pathogens – including coronaviruses – to spread. With this big and challenging picture, the World Environment Day is focus in the ecosystem restoration and its theme is “Reimagine. Recreate. Restore.”
REIMAGINE. RECREATE. RESTORE.
This is our moment. We cannot turn back time. But we can grow trees, green our cities, rewild our gardens, change our diets and clean up rivers and coasts. We are the generation that can make peace with nature. Let’s get active, not anxious. Let’s be bold, not timid.
We need to protect our planet’s ecosystem
For too long, we have been exploiting and destroying our planet’s ecosystems. Every three seconds, the world loses enough forest to cover a football pitch and over the last century we have destroyed half of our wetlands. As much as 50% of our coral reefs have already been lost and up to 90% of coral reefs could be lost by 2050, even if global warming is limited to an increase of 1.5°C. Ecosystem restoration means preventing, halting and reversing this damage – to go from exploiting nature to healing it.
This World Environment Day will kick off the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, a global mission to revive billions of hectares, from forests to farmlands, from the top of mountains to the depth of the sea.
Only with healthy ecosystems can we enhance people’s livelihoods, counteract climate change and stop the collapse of biodiversity.
Plastic Production is Contributing Towards Air Pollution
A report published by the Centre for Internation Environmental Law has shown that plastic is a significant contributor towards the greenhouse gas effect. Through its full lifecycle from production to its refining and its management as a waste product. The report states that “at current levels, greenhouse gas emissions from the plastic lifecycle threaten the ability of the global community to keep global temperature rise below 1.5C’. In fact, amongst the suggestions of the report authors is that the production of single-use plastic should be stopped ‘immediately.”
Plastic contributes to greenhouse gas emissions at every stage of its lifecycle, from its production to its refining and the way it is managed as a waste product. This plastic binge threatens attempts to meet the Paris climate agreement. It means that by 2050 plastic will be responsible for up to 13% of the total “carbon budget” – equivalent to 615 coal-fired power plants. The Guardian
Our beautiful planet and environment is under threat and it is imperative that we tackle this. According to this report, the proliferation of single-use plastic around the world is accelerating climate change. In order to protect our planet, we must eliminate single-use plastics.
Do your bit for the planet by using a Water-to-Go bottle
A great way to eliminate single-use plastic bottles is by using a Water-to-Go bottle. Our 3-in-1 filter technology will provide clean, drinking water anywhere in the world, without needing to purchase single-use plastic water bottles. Water-to-Go eliminates up to 99.9999% of all microbiological contaminants including viruses, bacteria, chemicals and heavy metals from any non-saltwater source, so you can stay safely hydrated wherever you are.
Furthermore, our filters will each replace up to 400 single-use plastic bottles that so often end up polluting our oceans and waterways. Just think of the difference this could make.
Make your commitment and join the global movement with Water-to-Go.
