Water-to-Go is delighted to be launching its most sustainable bottle yet, the Sugarcane 55 cl bottle.
With their recyclable filters, all Water-to- Go bottles have for over a decade reduced the number of single-use plastic water bottles and mitigated the pollution they create. This first sugarcane bottle creates the platform for us to move away from fossil fuel products to new, innovative plant-based plastics.
About Sugarcane Products
We all need to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and this new process does just that!
Sugarcane is grown to produce sugar, and normally the fibrous residue is treated as waste. We take that waste and allow it to ferment, which creates green eco-friendly ethanol. We then reuse the fibrous material, dry and compact it, and create biofuel bricks. Using these bricks to fuel two further processes, a plant-based plastic is created. This new material is lightweight, durable and dishwasher safe, and is made from plants, not fossil fuels.

Bonsucro accredited summary
Bonsucro is an international not-for-profit, multistakeholder governance group established in 2008 to promote sustainable sugar cane. Its stated aim is to reduce ‘the environmental and social impacts of sugarcane production while recognising the need for economic viability. It does this by setting sustainability standards and certifying sugar cane products including ethanol, sugar and molasses. As of 2019, 25% of global land planted in sugar cane was Bonsucro certified. Bonsucro has more than 500 members in more than 40 countries around the world including farmers, millers, traders, buyers and support organisations.
Water-to-Go only purchases via Bonsucro accredited suppliers and has become a Bonsucro member itself.
This new development marks another chapter in the 12-year history of Water-to-Go. During that time we have produced an internationally recognised and tested filter bottle and helped hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world stay hydrated and single-use plastic free wherever their journey took them.
We have also supported many organisations and ambassadors on their projects to further our goals and values to help keep people safely hydrated and to help protect our planet.
